# This is a template for Gene file search using white-space separated values
#
# A gene file can be written in two ways:
#
# 1) Rows with three values:
# The first value is Symbol
# The second value is Ensembl
# The third value is Regulation
# Genes can be matched by Symbol, Ensembl or both. Leave a value empty if it is not known, e.g. SCG3 1
# Regulation is optional, but must be an integer if provided.
#
# 2) A list of Symbols and/or Ensembls, with one or more genes per row, e.g.
# FUT5
# CREB1 ENSG00000172461 SLC2A2
# Genes in a list have no regulation.
#
# Gene files exported from Discovery (CSV) can also be uploaded as they are.
#
# Be careful to note the following:
# Rows starting with # and empty rows are ignored.
#
# Exact match is applied for Symbol and Ensembl.
#
# If a gene is matched more than once, only the first provided Regulation will be used.
# E.g. in the following example PKD1 will be down regulated.
# PKD1 -2
# PKD1 4
#
# If both Symbol and Ensembl are provided for a row and they match the same gene, that gene will be used.
# If they match different genes, both genes will be used.
# If a Symbol matches more than one gene, also provide the Ensembl. Otherwise no gene will be used and a warning will be provided.
#
# We recommend that this preamble is removed before using this gene file.

# Description of how the lines below will be processed:
# (1) Match by Symbol = SCG3 and up regulate
# (2) Match by Ensembl = ENSG00000110172 with no regulation
# (3) Match by Symbol = KCNG1 and down regulate
# (4) Match by Symbol = PKD1 with no regulation
# (5) Match by Symbol = INTS13 AND Ensembl = ENSG00000064102 and up regulate
#
SCG3 1
 ENSG00000110172
KCNG1 -1
PKD1 0
